Frankie (Avalon) literally falls for a new gal in town, pop singer Sugar Kane (Evans), leaving his sweetheart, Dee Dee (Funicello), in the lurch.  Amidst this love triangle, Frankie & Annette's beach buddies get into hot water with a mermaid, the local motorcycle gang and the evil South Dakota Slim.
